Q: Can I change design of my iSite3 powered website without requesting action from the Perpetuum Mobile employees?
A: Yes, any iSite3 user with knowledge of HTML and web technologies can change design of iSite3 powered website. Volume of changes and restrictions that user will face while changing design will be different depending on one’s DHTML knowledge. Contacting Perpetuum Mobile is in no way obligatory in this process.
Q: Is there a way to incorporate custom addins in iSite3 website? Could they be administered through iSite Admin application? Is there visual interface for third party add-ons and plugins?
A: Users can add add-ins to iSite3 web in several ways. First, on production site, users with knowledge of ASP.NET can add custom web controls to SmartTemplate by adding DLL-s and setting custom tags. Second, every iSite3 exposes several functions in Web Service mode, allowing users to tap into iSite3 repository programmatically. This can allow for any third party application/plug-in to get data from iSite3 repository. We have seen implementations in Macromedia Flash, custom Web Controls, and even Windows Forms projects. This functionality is called SmartFeedsProvider, and you can find more about it in iSite3 documentation. Last, but not least, one can add custom functionality into iSite3 by using Smart Connect functionality that will allow for administration on Administration site and incorporating outside web functionality inside your iSite3 website. This is usually used for incorporating data and reports from other websites that already exist, allowing for complementing that data with data entered in iSite3 application.
Q: Is it possible to transfer data from existing iSite2 websites to iSite3 website?
A: It is possible to transfer data, but only to limited extent. Only articles and sections will be transferred (with all the pictures, tables, and attachments). Technical reasons require that this action needs to be performed and supervised by Perpetuum Mobile personnel.

Q: Can I reset iSite3 in a way to get same data and data structure that I have received after the installation?
A: Not in full. One can use SmartContent functionality to export content from iSite3 repository after installation, and then, at a later time, import it back into the website – thus restoring data, but iSite3 settings and profiles will not be restored in this way.
Q: Can I use Microsoft SQL Server Express edition for a repository of my iSite3 website?
A: Yes. SQL Server Express edition is included in iSite3 installation CD, and is free to use as a database for iSite3 website. SQL Server Express has several limitations from SQL Server edition, so users are warned to check Microsoft official site if Express edition is right for them and their needs. Choosing Express might be right answer for your needs, but it can also be a huge problem if your website grows beyond certain limits. At this time, it is possible to upsize Express to another edition if the need arises, but please consult official Microsoft site for more information.
Q: Administration site is in English, is there a way to use another language?
A: iSite3 is a product in continuous development, and we develop new "Language packs" that enable administration in different languages. Check your installation CD and iSite3 website for availability of different language packs.
