A

Administration site
Portal administration and content editing

Administration site set
Contains: Administration site (Portal administration and content editing), SmartEdit web site (WYSIWYG content editing) and Preview site (the way the end users see it). Can also contain SmartDesign site (for SmartTemplate editing).

Article
Articles are basic web site elements, since they represent the very information displayed to the web visitor. Each article consists of the following elements: heading, lead, text, tables, pictures and attachments. Heading, lead and text can contain both formatted text and pictures.

Article dialog box
The form consisting of tabs for creating and changing article properties (Name, Heading & lead, text etc.).

   

B

Banner
Banner is a picture or a flash file that points to a content in the iSite database or to an external content. On a public site, banner is displayed inside the "placeholder" for banner display.

Caption
Caption can be a text, image or a combination of the two, with no links attached, commonly used to enhance appearance of the portal.

Child section
Child section is usually the content section that is located deeper in the structure of the site. If one section has several subsections, they are called child sections of our section. In some cases, child section can inherit properties from the “upper” section or so called parent section.

Counter
Tracks number of visits to the webpage. It is possible to track number of visits on the whole website, as well as on one section separately.

Calendar
Calendar is an element used for browsing through articles which are set to display on the specific date. This property of an article is called TargetDate and is set in the General tab of the Article dialog box.

Dashboard
Dashboard is a starting page of the iSite application, with shortcuts to different iSite sets and applications (Administration site, SmartEdit site, Preview/View site, SmartDesign site).

Date modified
Date modified is an element which displays the time when the last changes on the page were made.

Dynamic site tree
This element displays a dynamic tree of all portal's sections and subsections.

Element
Element is a part of the region. iSite contains the following elements: article, link, form, forum, ticker, banner, caption, file, SmartFeed Consumer, gallery, section tree, section first level, navigation path, languages, site map, search, dynamic site tree, date modified, counter calendar, separator.

   

F

File
File is a collection of related data or program records stored inside iSite CMS (or on some auxiliary storage medium).

Form
Form is a webpage which allows user to enter/send/submit data (setting preferences, questionnaires, surveys, feedbacks, etc.) to server for processing. Data collected in such a way can be analyzed for data mining.

Forum
An Internet forum is a communication tool for holding discussions among individuals or groups of people. A sense of virtual community often develops around forums which have regular users and topics.

Gallery
Gallery is a collection of digital photos hosted on a website. You can publish your own images, view or review other people’s images.

Initial content
iSite installation already comes with the initial content (few pictures, elements and usually some Latin text). The predefined content is there for you, to help you understand where the content should be, but you can easily delete that content and replace it with the new one.

Languages
Languages is an iSite element that contains links to all root sections of all the world languages.

Link
Link is an element, as text or graphics, linked through hypertext to a document, another object, etc

Navigation path
Navigation path is a visual element which represents user’s current position within the web site structure. Text inside navigation path is linked to the related section and can be used for linear navigation through a website.

Parent section
Parent section is a higher section in the structure that contains several child sections

Preview of the site the way the end users see it (linked from Production site set)

Preview site
Preview of the site the way the end users see it (linked from Administration site set)

Production site set
Contains links to Administration site (portal administration and content editing), and Portal production (preview of the site the way the end users see it). Can contain a link to SmartDesign site (for SmartTemplate editing).

R

Region
A page element in which we place the content. A part of the section. Section can contain any number of regions, although usually there are 3-4 regions (index, main, maindex, outdex).

Root section
Root sections represent child websites of the portal and are defined by their languages. An iSite3 portal can contain an unlimited number of root sections. Each section can contain an unlimited number of child sections.

Search
Search is a web tool for finding various contents inside the website. The iSite Search element can be added to any region within the iSite website; however, it is usually positioned in the upper right corner of the page.

Section
Meaningful groups of elements; pages.

Section first level
Section first level is a navigational element that displays the links to the first level sections only.

Section list
Display all entities and child sections within one parent section.

Section tree
This element displays the website structure. It is similar to Site map, although it opens only the trees that lead to the chosen section, displaying the child section, if any. 

Separator
Separator is a graphical element which basically contains empty space. It is used to separate two elements, such as two articles, for example. Separator can be used only for vertical content separation.

Site map
Site map is an element that displays the whole website structure visually. By clicking the webpage links inside the Site map, you can directly approach the desired content.

SmartDesign site
SmartDesign™ site serves for editing and managing SmartTemplate.

SmartEdit website
An easy to use application for creating, editing and saving content on the web, using WYSIWYG content editor.

SmartFeed Consumer

Smart URL
SmartURL is technology that enables you to define shortcut aliases for specific element like Article or Section is. When you define your custom SmartURL name (shortcut alias) for Article or Section, a visitor to your site can easily access this resource by typing http://<SERVER_NAME>/your_alias and will open it without need for deep structure browsing through the site. From another point of view, SmartURL also enables different content separation, making it look as a separate site inside one iSite3 instance. For example, you can create distinct content separated in Sections, then define separate SmartTemplate plus SmartURL for each section, as well, thus creating virtual site on single iSite3 instance.

Templates
Template is an electronic file with a pre-designed, customized format and a structure ready to be filled in. With iSite SmartTemplate, you can define design for the whole site or only for certain sections.

Text editor
Text editor is an iSite tool for editing articles and other text content. The main functions that can be performed within the editor are adding, deleting and moving text, leads, titles, pictures etc.

Ticker
Ticker is a content element for dynamic display of a text or a picture inside the dedicated place on a webpage.
